Alongside all colleagues in the public sector Newport City Council is facing a time of unprecedented change. There is a wider challenge for the Health and Safety service to support the business, so we are embedding a business partnering approach to allow strategic resources to focus on high level issues whilst continuing to support line managers.
The position of Health and Safety Assistant is a new, fixed term role for 12 months, based within the centralised Health and Safety team and will be a key component of our Health and Safety provision. The main focus will be on providing assistance to the Health and Safety Officers and provision of specialist advice and guidance to managers across a range of services.
A Health and Safety generalist with experience of dealing with Health and Safety issues, you will be qualified to NEBOSH certificate level (or equivalent) and have experience of providing training. A self starter, your excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills will be key to your success in this role, as will a positive approach to working under pressure and a flexible approach to working hours.
